Der Workshop findet in englischer Sprache statt und richtet sich an Erwachsene, die sich für Physical Comedy interessieren. Teilnahme ohne Vorkenntnisse möglich.
In diesem Workshop werden Werkzeuge für das Spielen von Comedy entwickelt, durch Erforschung und Verwendung von Slapstick-Techniken, Improvisation, komödiantisches Timing, Unfällen in Solos, Duos und Gruppenübungen.

Dieser Workshop ist für erfahrene PerformerInnen jeden Genres, mit Fokus auf Clownarbeit. Viele Bereiche der Slapstick-Techniken werden abgedeckt, sie werden bei der Kreation von Kurznummern angewendet, mit Blick auf sowohl die Einfachheit als auch die Komplexität dessen, was es bedeutet, Slapstick in die Arbeit zu integrieren. Jede/r TeilnehmerIn erhält die Möglichkeit, ein kurzes Stück aus der eigenen Arbeit für Kritik und Weiterentwicklung zu präsentieren.

Im KosmosTheater
Organisationen wie Clowns ohne Grenzen und Red Noses Clowndoctors führen Einsätze in Kriegs- und Krisengebieten durch, aber auch in Flüchtlingslagern in den eigenen Ländern. Sie bringen für kurze Zeit Lachen und Leichtigkeit in das Leben von Menschen, die unter traumatischen Erlebnissen zu leiden haben und einen Alltag bewältigen müssen, der für Humor an sich keinen Platz bietet.
Die Arbeit dieser Organisationen wird in Impulsreferaten vorgestellt und es wird der Frage nachgegangen, was für sozialer aber auch künstlerischer Nutzen daraus entstehen kann.

Hilary Chaplain
Hilary Chaplain has been recognized as one of America's foremost professional physical comediennes, performing her original solo and ensemble work for over a decade throughout the United States, Canada, South America and Europe. Uncovering the humor in everyday life, her extraordinary work has won accolades worldwide. Hilary is currently touring her award winning solo show "A Life In Her Day". Over the past 8 years, she pas performed in over 15 countries and in the US. She recently won a "Golden Gander" for Acting at the GAG Festival of Humor in Slovakia, 3 awards including "Grand Prize" at Aquelarre 2006 in Havana, Cuba, tan "Excellence Award" at the New York International Fringe Festival and 2 awards including the Grock d'Or from the Grockland Assoc. at Clowns International in England. As a solo variety performer, Hilary Chaplain has appeared at the Krystallpalast Varieté Leipzig, the Palazzo Colombino Freiburg and in many Variety Shows at festivals and theatres worldwide. Hilary is a founding member of the New York Goofs (est.1998) appearing with them in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Avery Fisher Hall, the American Museum of Natural History, Symphony Space, and on tour at Wolf Trap with Bob McGrath from Sesame Street.
As an actress, Hilary was an original cast member in Bill Irwin's "Largely/New York" and appeared on Broadway and at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park as the Goddess Ceres in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of "The Tempest" directed by George C. Wolfe. She played a featured role in the 1994 Oscar winning movie "Forrest Gump", a lawyer on "Law and Order Criminal Intent" and made a special appearance on "Late Night with David Letterman". Hilary was an adjunct professor of clowning at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for 8 years and teaches workshops in Theatre Clown, Physical Comedy, and Hospital Clowning worldwide. She has been entertaining children in NYC hospitals as "Nurse Nice" of the renowned Big Apple Circus Hospital Clown Program® (since 1987) and has been invited to teach Hospital Clowning internationally.
